Under the Special Features section of the DVD, the voice over says "From the producer of Bullitt and The French Connection comes The Seven Ups. " You'd better believe it. This movie is fast paced and totally unpredictable. You have to watch this movie uninterrupted. If you don't you'll miss important developments that will leave you clueless. The movie is filmed in Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey and the Bronx. The setting of the film is as the cities looked at the time; dirty, drab, grey, polluted and dingy. Roy Scheider is the most intense actor I've seen besides Gene Hackman and Jack Lemmon. The overall feel of The Seven Ups is an exercise in deja vu as there are similarities in filming style and score (music) from the other two movies mentioned earlier. The car chase is something you gotta see to believe. How the filmmakers got permission to drive that recklessly and fast in a crowded city is beyond me. If you're a fan of cars getting severely damaged and still drivable with no computer generated imagery, watch this. Movies like this will never be made again.
