James Sedaris and the Phoenix Symphony recreate the Magnificent Seven motion picture soundtrack score with participation from the film's musical composer, Elmer Bernstein. The original orchestral score was lost or destroyed, but Bernstein still had his detailed sketches so it was easy to reconstruct the original orchestrations from them. Bernstein called this CD released in 1994 the 'definitive interpretation" in his own opinion. Admittedly, only 92-95% of the film's music is reproduced here as some of the musival cues were too brief or short or lacked meaning without the video link. If you want to listen to the authentic soundtrack, this is a great CD! Hey, even Elmer Bernstein liked it, and he said he usually dislikes other conductors performing his scores!
