Tony Latham's writing just keeps getting better and better. His first autobiographical story, Trafficking, was a fascinating insight into the life of an undercover game warden in the west. For his novels, he has drawn from his experiences but added drama, suspense and character development to create well-crafted and enjoyable reads. This, the second of his novels, continues the investigative adventures of the character, Charlie Cove, a sympathetic and complicated character. My enjoyment of the book was largely due to the skillfully use of suspense as the plot unfolded, so I won't describe it except to say that murder, dismemberment, drug trafficking, and poaching all add to its complexity and excitement. I loved reading this book during a day of cross country flights and airport layovers and had trouble putting it down even to board my plane. Again I can't wait for the next Charlie Cove adventure. Keep them coming Tony!
